Instructional videos
On this page you will find a number of instructional videos that will help you get started with working with silicone beads and parts. The videos are intended as practical guidance and inspiration, especially for those who are starting out for the first time.
I show in the videos how I work: how I tie, thread and use parts, and what I pay attention to while making. These are my personal working methods and points of interest, not a fixed step-by-step plan or guarantee for a safe or legally permitted end product.
The knotting technique that I show for teething rings has been tested by me for strength and has passed this test. If you make products to sell or for use by others, it remains important to have your own end product tested separately. After all, everyone works slightly differently, and even small differences in shape, structure or choice of materials can influence the final strength.
The materials used for pacifier cords (such as clips and satin thread) have been tested several times as separate parts. However, the safety of an end product always depends on the total composition, the method of attachment and the intended use. In the video I show how I approach this myself, but this is not an endorsement or guarantee for homemade end products.
You will also find videos on this page about:
– working with pens
– the use of click closures
– making key rings
– my three hole split beads and the thinking behind this design
Use the videos as support and inspiration, and always keep a critical eye on what you make. When you use materials to make a final product, you as the maker are responsible for the composition, choice of materials, any testing and compliance with applicable laws and regulations — especially for items used by babies or young children.
